I am primarily a painter working in oil, but experiment using paper cuts and printmaking. I graduated from Wimbledon College of Art in 2015 and live and work in Cambridge. My work explores the fluid relationship between language and the collectively understood meanings that go with it. Although language is seen as stable and fixed, it changes and morphs to fit our needs and experiences. I look at how changing the physical form of language can reveal our changing collective use of it. In each painting I focus on a word that has undergone this change and create a new typography. As a starting point I use silicon to draw out the text and create a maquette to work from. I am interested in exploring the illusion of fluid motion to bring to life the meaning behind language, which I create by manipulating the colour and light in my typography.
